Update #59

“Finally!” absolutely no one screamed “Shaw has returned to the Lands Between!” After a long absence of over two weeks, our hero had finally resumed her adventure. Unfortunately, having no more cat pictures to share, she feared her readership would once again fall off a cliff. Nevertheless, she would persist.

Since the last thing Shaw did before her break was to defeat Colonel something in the rot swamp, she should probably pursue the associated questline. This meant bringing a gold needle to the shack wizard.

After he might or might not have done something to the needle, Shaw was tasked to deliver it to the sick girl. Hopefully, this would provide the dying wretch with some semblance of relief, as her raspy gurgles were quite unnerving, especially on a 5.1 sound system.

Good news! Once the needle was properly inserted, the scarlet rot ceased to writhe. (phrasing)

No longer dying, the girl deigned to give Shaw her name, Millicent, and followed it up with some light flirting.

(…) After a period of adventuring which has sadly been lost to the darkest corners of Shaw’s memory, she somehow ended up in a horrible place beset with tornados. It looked kind of neat in a “please get me the fuck out of here now” sort of way.

Back in Nokron, Shaw defeated herself, then found herself, then defeated a Regal Ancestor Spirit, and finally experienced her first incident of controller-tossing frustration (metaphorically speaking of course) in the form of a pair of gargoyle bosses (seriously, fuck those two, and whoever programmed them, with love and admiration, but also fuck you).

Having exhausted what Nokron had to offer, Shaw headed back to see her on-again, off-again paramore, Ranni.

That’s what she (Ranni) said: “It was brief, but thou gavest me fine service.”

Once Ranni was properly satisfied, she gave Shaw an upside down statue, and she could think of only one place to put it.

Once placed, this flipped the insides of the Divine Tower of Liurnia. Neat. But also, now filled with baby hand spiders.

The top of the tower had a desiccated corpse, which apparently were Ranni’s remains? But I just spoke to her???

Enjoy this view of the big gate.

Here is Shaw hanging out with herself, both of them now cosplaying as Dr. Doom.

Time to activate this bigass elevator.

By joining both halves of the medallion.

Ah, the Altus Plateau, which is in a completely different season than the areas at the bottom of the lift apparently: autumn at the top and summer at the bottom. That is not how climate works as you move up in elevation. Shaw was tickled at the idea that someone at FromSoftware thought: snow at the top of mountains (winter), nice weather at the bottom (summer), so logically the transition zone in between must be in autumn with the leaves changing colors and falling to the ground.
