It had been 227 days since Shaw began her journey through the Lands Between (see Update #1), but now, the time had come to complete her quest once and for all. She found herself in Leyndell, Ashen Capital, and quietly admired the expediency with which the residents renamed their largest city. The great Erdtree had only been set ablaze the preceding day, and the naming on the map had already been updated.

Honestly, after defeating Malenia, the Blade of Miquella (which was supposedly the hardest boss in the game) none of the subsequent fights would prove to be much of a challenge, and this included Godfrey, First Elden Lord. Shaw would have liked to think this was because she due to her great skills, but really it had much more to do with her character level, which was much higher than what most Tarnished would have when reaching the end game.

On the plus side, this also meant that these later boss fights were much for enjoyable, at least for Shaw, if not for the bosses themselves.

Once Godfrey was defeated, Shaw was on her way to the final arena, when she remembered that she had not yet found Mohgwyn Palace, so she decided to head there and wrap up this one last loose end before completing her quest for the Elden Ring.

Unexpectedly, this area proved to be more of a challenge than other late game areas, especially the fight against Mohg, Lord of Blood. Shaw repeatedly died to this asshole, despite equipping a rune arc, a potion of mixed physic, rot grease, and her Mimic Tear. The fiend kept unleashing a bleed attack that would completely sap her life bar in under 1 second. It is only when she decided, fuck it, and just rushed him repeatedly (without equipping anything, mind you) that she managed to best him fast enough, before he could unleash his devastating attack.

Now that this distraction was taken care of, Shaw headed back to the Ashen Capital. It was time. Nothing could stop her now. After nearly 8 months, the end was in sight. The only thing standing in her way was a redheaded man, who seemed to already be falling to pieces, Radagon of the Golden Order. You can see him here taking a little nap (Shaw cannot remember if this was before or after defeating him).

Once defeated, he turned into the Elden Beast, a gargantuan winged glowing translucent phallus with arms. Despite its size, it did not stand a chance against Shaw.

So this is what it felt like to slay a god. As the final cutscene played out, Shaw felt a mixture of relief, accomplishment, and a tinge of melancholy.

The journey had been a long and sometimes painful one, but now it was done. So what was next for out intrepid hero? It was unlikely that she would venture beyond the Lands Between to other SoulsBorne worlds. While the Shadow of the Erdtree beckoned, Shaw felt like trying something different first, perhaps she would go on a sidequest to visit Baldur’s Gate…
