First off, VOLCAAAANO MAAAANOR seemed to have a huge vermin problem, namely some venomous snake snails hiding out in their walls. Once that little issue was solved, Shaw headed outside to explore the laval-filled surroundings. Nothing much of interest to report out there, except for this giant bridge we she raised from the lava, and which was apparently important enough to warrant its own cutscene.

On the other side of the bridge, Shaw found a snake temple, in which she fought a Godskin Noble (not pictured) a portly sort who evidently attacks with his folds of skin. The temple or church was quite an ominous site of ophiolatry, covered as it was with snake statues and bathed in the light of red candle flames.

The view from outside though, not bad.

Eventually, Shaw reached a massive cave and fought an equally massive snake, but she died.

After looking up what to do, Shaw discovered that the best way to slay the beast was to use the serpent slaying weapon left at the entrance of the cave. An obvious solution that she really should have thought of.

Probably for the best, because if she had discovered there was a phase 2 to this boss with her normal weapon, she probably would have thrown the controller out the window.

What followed was easily one of the best cutscenes in the game so far.

This crazy bastard pulled a giant sword out of his gullet. Too bad for him, as he probably wouldn’t get to use it.

Join the Serpent King, as family you say? To devour the gods you say?

How about, no.

The lesson learned is, if the game gives you something, use it, unless it’s scarlet rot or some other similar affliction, then get rid of it.
