The following is an excerpt from the diary of one named Shaw. It was one of the few items recovered from the fire; despite extensive damage, some passages are still legible. This is one of them.

Day 9

Woke up soaked and shivering. There is very little shelter to be found in this place. The rain has been pelting me constantly since I crossed that bridge. The Weeping Peninsula. An apt name.

Still reeling from my disappointment after collapsing the turtle building yesterday and finding nothing within. Was it yesterday? Difficult to know for sure; time seems to flow differently here.

I’ve found 2 sites of grace in this area so far; there must be more. I should look for them.

During my search, I found another church. That makes a total of 3 on this peninsula. The turtle building was also some sort of place of worship. Aside from these religious places, I can find very little evidence of settlements or habitations. Certainly not enough to justify this many churches. Perhaps this peninsula was strictly used as a place of pilgrimage?

Stumbled upon Oridys’s Rise. The entrance was barred by some sort of force field. A riddle beckoned me to find three wise animals. Evidently, the peoples of the Lands Between have never heard of keys. After slashing three ghost turtles, the way opened up for me. Turtles seem to hold some sort of holy status in this world, not unlike cows in India. As I write this, I realize that India is not in the Lands Between,  but I can’t remember much else about it. A fleeting memory of a past life perhaps or merely a hallucinatory fantasy? Hard to say. I haven’t had much restful sleep since I got here. In any case, I went inside, climbed a ladder, followed by some steps, and reached a room with a chest. Inside I uncovered a memory stone. Should be useful, maybe it will help me remember how I got here, but so far I haven’t been able to figure out how to use it.

Well, it was time to secure a better weapon, so I headed west, towards the Tomsward Ruins. Some giant rats outside. Thankfully much easier to defeat than those from the Fire Swamp. Fire Swamp? Another half-remembered place from my past life I guess. The tomb was guarded by two archers; easily dispatched. Finally, my prize, a Winged Scythe. To my disappointment, I was not strong enough to wield it. Oh well, it’s a feeling I will have to get used to in this place.

The rest of the diary entry is missing. We will keep carefully restoring it, in an attempt to learn more about Shaw’s journey through the Lands Between. Unfortunately, their ultimate fate cannot be ascertained at this point as the latter half of the diary is irreparably singed.

A sketch was also recovered from the diary, presumably done by Shaw. It depicts what we assume is a suspension bridge somewhere in the place she refers to as the Weeping Peninsula. So far, none of our research has been able to pinpoint the exact geographic location, or even if it ever existed.

Summary:

In which a rain-soaked Shaw further explores the Weeping Peninsula, visits some churches, and finds some treasure, none of which she is able to use.
