From barely being able to complete the tutorial, less than 2 months ago, to now decisively defeating Godrick The Grafted Scion on her second attempt, our hero Shaw had certainly come a long way in her journey through the Lands Between.

When last we left her, Shaw believed she was on the edge of what she believed must be the entrance to the fight with Godrick; after all, it was unlikely that one castle would contain more than one sickly yellow mistwall, announcing an epic fight beyond. It seemed too, but perhaps she had just found a shortcut, somehow. In any case, she summoned Nepheli and traversed the ochre fog.

The figure below praying to a dragon, that must be Godrick. He did not look too imposing.

Oh shit.

Yep, this wasn’t going to be easy.

Soon enough, Godrick was disarmed (literally), albeit still with half his life left.

Suddenly, a cutscene. Halfway through a fight, this could only mean one thing: a second boss phase, usually much more difficult than the last. Watching Godrick rip off the dragon’s head and jamming it into where his arm used to be confirmed this suspicion. Shaw fought valiantly, bringing him down to a thin sliver of life, but in the end, the flames bested her, and she was out of potions.

On her second attempt, Shaw tried jumping over the fire and rolling towards Godrick. That seemed to avoid most damage. She also saved her flask of wondrous physick until the second phase. Success! She was brought to the edge of tears by this accomplishment. Never in her wildest dreams did she expect to ever leave Limgrave, let alone defeat Godrick.

Shaw explored the former Godrick’s throne room; a nice place. She wishes she could have taken a picture sitting on it, but some jerk put a message on there, and also some different ghost jerk decided to photobomb.

In the adjoining passages, she met a ghost, decrying the loss of his maiden. Maidens seem to be in short supply in the Lands Between, you would think those that have them would be more careful.

Just outside, the maiden in question. Hyetta was her name. Blind but hungry for some grapes. Shaw gave her some.

Nearby, a friendly face, Boc the seamster. He offered his services, but it looked like all his alterations would just make her armor stats worse? In any case, it was nice to see him again.

So, this was Liurnia of the Lakes? It looked beautiful and probably slightly less deadly than Caelid; she would start exploring tomorrow, but for now, rest.
