Following the previous updates odd diversions, Shaw decided to clear out a good old fashion dungeon, in this case, the Sainted Hero’s Grave. Who was this hero? Why was he sainted? But more importantly, was this blessing bestowed upon him by the tortoise pope himself, Miriel, Pastor of Vows? Presumably these questions are answered somewhere in the description of an acquired item which Shaw will probably never read, or if she does, will have forgotten where the item was acquired or to what the lore was referring. Oh well.

Having cleared the dungeon, Shaw went exploring, looking for Volcano Manor. Instead she ended up in a region just outside the royal capital of Leyndell. A sinister disembodied voice, taunting her through the air, hinted that maybe she should come back later.

An easier challenge was the logical choice, so she headed for the next nearest available evergaol.

This evergaol was prison to none other than Godefroy the Grafted. Another jerk in a long line of multi-limbed royal jerks whose name started with the letter G. In any case, after an interminable number of attempts, Shaw finally defeated him, having used 11 health potions, and being on hit away for failing for the nth time.

Reeling from this success, Shaw suddenly remembered advice given to her by Laurie after Update #50 (remembered but apparently not documented) which was also echoed by Patches, something about getting killed by a virgin at the bottom of a waterfall under Raya Lucaria Academy, which might lead to Volcano Manor? Indeed.

What everyone failed to mention was the lava-covered ground, lava-spewing snails, and hoards of bats. Oh, and the pair of boss-level abductor virgins waiting at the end of this pleasant jaunt. Fortunately, they were slightly easier to beat than Godefroy (only 2-3 attempts).

Sadly, after all this, Shaw was no closer to Volcano Manor, the exit having dropped her in the middle of Mt. Gelmir.

I hope this song plays when Shaw finally enters Volcano Manor.
